Brandy M. Hall

Founder, Chief Executive Officer | Shades of Green Permaculture

An accomplished business leader and landscaper with nearly two decades of professional experience, Brandy M. Hall was elected mayor of Pine Lake, Georgia, in 2024. Among her numerous responsibilities as the city’s chief executive officer, she develops budgets and financial plans, oversees the marketing and online education departments, manages administrative and HR departments and the city manager, meets and deals with other elected officials, and advocates for policies at the state and federal levels, and steers the city’s strategic vision.

Attributing her success to always being a “hands in the dirt” person, Ms. Hall grew up on a farm, where she was involved in seed collecting and various other tasks. Over the years, she saw firsthand her stepfather and mother develop severe reactions from exposure to different chemicals in the environment—leading to body swelling and hospitalizations. Subsequently, while an undergraduate at the University of Florida, she decided to take a year off to travel to Central America, where she was introduced to permaculture and the way people there were living off their land—capturing water, using resources at hand, and investing heavily in the community. It was this experience that inspired her to pursue this field as a career.

A stone mason for Lithic Construction and a teacher and farmer at Belle Mead School for several years, Ms. Hall founded the first iteration of Shades of Green Permaculture, a regenerative landscape design-and-build company geared toward creating a healthier world, in 2004. She then attained a general contractor’s license and pivoted to more whole systems design through the company in 2008. Wielding expertise in landscape construction, integrated farming systems, ecology, rainwater management, and green infrastructure, she’s grown her business to more than 20 employees and has helped over 1,000 clients. When she moved to Pink Lake, Georgia, she joined the city council, driven by her passion for the small, close-knit community.

Looking ahead to the future, Ms. Hall has plans to write a book about approachable home-scale permaculture. She’s also planning to expand her landscaping operations and scale Shades of Green Permaculture’s ecological lawn care and horticultural services.
